China Mobile desperate to convince Steve Jobs for iPhone deal

Chine Mobile is reported to be desparate to have a deal with Steve Jobs to sell iPhone on its specialized TD-SCDMA network. But up till now no deal has been signed yet.

China Mobile Chairman Wang Jianzhou confirmed that he had met with Apple CEO Steve Jobs to discuss bringing a customized version of the phone to the carrier. He said that "I met Steve Jobs several times already, but we haven't come to an agreement yet," Wang said. "All I can say is, it's a common wish of China Mobile and Apple to come to an agreement as soon as possible."

If this deal is signed Apple needs to produce iPhone compatibe with SCDMA technology. That 3G signal is not compatible with the current iPhone that are being shipped tp other carriers. That means that users have to go to lower speed i.e. 2G in order to enjoy the pleasures of iPhone. Strangely this fact has not yet decreased the popularity of iPhone in such countries.

Please note that China Mobile is three times the size of AT&T and Verizon. Currently Apple is dealing with China Unicom only in this market.

Protect Android from a HACK!!!

If you’ve seen “fake AV” pop-ups while surfing the web, then that’s a good reason to believe that this is actually a man-in-the-middle attack. Once a backdoor is installed like rootkit, it’s simply a matter of connecting to the exploited device via SSH. Yeah the same ssh you use to connect to remote linux host. Coderman at DEF Conf confessed that attackers could also monitor conversations, which suggests that not only can packets be injected, but they can also be sniffed and decoded in real-time.

This hack is belived to be still in very early days. Hacker only posted his findings to the mailing list a few hours after the DEF con — but if we are waiting for some more activity on the mailing lists or a reaction from a cellular carrier with an interest in 4G. It’s also worth pointing out that we don’t know which version of 4G has been hacked. HSDPA, WiMAX, and LTE all use different transport layers and security methods, and the repercussions will depend on which one has fallen.

4G and CDMA got hacked

It has been reported that at 19th DEF Conf hacking conference the hackers were able to hack through the 4G and CDMA networks available at the conference. This hack exposes the weaknesses in these networks. Hack took place between August 4 and 7. It has been reported that a full man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack was successfully launched against all 4G and CDMA transmissions in and around the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas.

The attackers were able to inject custom packets into the 4G and CDMA data stream. These forged packets allowed the attackers to create on-screen prompts that, if clicked, installed a rootkit on the PC or Android device.

Sandy Bridge-E CPU

The E (enthusiastic) range includes the Core i7 3820, 3930K, and 3960K, and is expected to ship before the end of 2011. The increased L3 cache size of up to 15MB, on-chip 32x PCI 3.0 and the integrated four-channel DDR3 memory controlle.

The Sandy Bridge-E chips will also require a a new LGA 2011 motherboard that’s powered by new the X79 chipset. The 3820 is quad-core, and the 3930K and 3960K are six-core. All three chips operate at similar speeds, with the main difference being the amount of L3 cache (10, 12, and 15MB respectively).

The new chips are expected to have a leviathanistic TDP of 130 watts that means their max displacement might actually be as high as 180W, with a max draw of 23 amps on the 12V2 power supply. Surprisingly The new 2011-pin CPU socket is backwards compatible with LGA 1366 cooling

Most shocking news is that they will not be shipped with any cooling device. That means gamers have to keep in mind the extra cooling device cost while purchasing this monstrous beast.

Unlock your lntel processor

Intel is now offering to upgrade your Core i3-2312M, Core i3-2102, or Pentium G622 processor using software update. Buy an “upgrade card” and using a software that you could download enter your magic code, and boom: a 15-20% performance boost (CPU frequency bump), and in the case of the i3-2312M you can even unlock more cache.

We  don’t know the exact CPU frequency you can increase using the card, but the 15-20% performance increase means that the frequency increase for all four chip. Enhances chips also get new names: the i3-2312M becomes the i3-2393M, the i3-2102 turns into the i3-2153, and the Pentium G622 metamorphoses into the Pentium G693.
