Google+ (Plus) notification checker - There is a recent App that will allow you to access google+ (Plus) notifications with in Google Chrome. You can now add a small notification checker extension in Google Chrome which displays your new notifications and will take you to Google+ for further exploration.

This application also allows you to set desktop notifications. Sound could also be enabled/disabled for these notification. This app is pretty easy to use
