Red Hat 5 and Red Hat 6 are finally in Evaluation for Common Criteria

Red Hat federal team reported that Red hat 5 and Red hat 6 are finally in Evaluation for Common criteria. This will help a lot to the individuals or companies which want to work in regulated environment and want everything to be certified. Not an average Joe’s wish though but still.

Evaluation for common criteria is a big hit these days and companies are pushing forward to go through this the internationally-recognized Common Criteria process.

Red Hat in last August announced that they will also follow the same steps and with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and Red Hat Linux 6 under Common Criteria at Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL) 4+, with the inclusion of the KVM Hypervisor they say they fulfilled what they said.

Note that Rdh Hat partners like Dell, HO, IBM and SGI are also running on same track. This certification for Red hat includes the same security features certified under Labeled Security Protection Profile (LSPP) such as labeled and role-based access controls. Red hat already has remote audit logging certified.
